Polishing services

We'll recommend the right finish for the wood and how the piece is used, not just the cheapest option.

French Polish

Traditional hand-rubbed shellac finish for a deep, natural shine on doors, furniture and staircases.

PU (Polyurethane) Polish

A durable, scratch and water-resistant spray finish — the usual choice for furniture that sees daily use.

Melamine Polish

A smooth, factory-like finish suited to new furniture, wardrobes and doors.

Old Furniture Restoration

Sanding down old, tired polish, repairing minor damage, and re-staining and re-polishing back to a proper finish.

Wood we work with

From solid timber to veneer and plywood doors.

Teak & Country Wood

Solid timber doors, window frames and furniture, including older pieces that need restoring.

Veneer & Plywood Doors

Factory-made doors and wardrobes that need a smooth, even melamine or PU finish.

Furniture & Staircases

Dining tables, chairs, cots and staircases — polished on-site with care taken around fittings and hardware.

How we polish wood

The finish is only as good as the sanding underneath it.

Inspection

We check the wood type and the condition of the existing polish, and tell you honestly whether it needs a light buff or a full strip-down.

Sanding & Prep

Old polish, dust and minor damage are sanded back to bare, even wood.

Staining & Grain Filling

If the wood needs colour matching or the grain needs filling, this is done before any polish goes on.

Polish Coats

French, PU or melamine polish is applied in multiple thin coats, with drying time between each one.

Buffing & Final Shine

The surface is buffed to a smooth, even shine and checked in natural light before handover.

Common questions

Quick answers before you call.

How long does PU polish take to fully cure?

PU polish is dry to touch within a day, but reaches full hardness in about 5 to 7 days. We ask you to avoid heavy use of the furniture until then.

Can you match the existing colour of my furniture?

In most cases, yes. We bring sample stains to match against your existing wood before polishing the full piece.

Do you polish on-site or take the furniture away?

Doors, windows and staircases are polished on-site. Loose furniture like chairs or small tables can be polished on-site or at our workshop if a smoother finish is needed — we'll advise you on which suits your piece.

Do you handle old, damaged furniture?

Yes. Sanding back old polish and doing minor repairs before re-polishing is one of our most common jobs.

Got furniture or doors that need re-polishing?

Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what finish suits it best.
